BBK OFF: Digital Transformation in Performance

Paul Clarke y Jessica Hoffmann, directores artísticos de la compañía de Bristol Uninvited Guests, nos traen al festival dos de sus producciones; Billennium y To Those Born Later. En esta charla, nos hablarán sobre su experiencia integrando interpretación y tecnología; el teatro digital como una manera de conectar socialmente durante los confinamientos por el COVID y en tiempos de distanciamiento social, aprendiendo de la pandemia cómo llegar a conectar con las audiencias en remoto, usando tecnologías interactivas para facilitar la participación, y combinando la realidad aumentada con las actuaciones site-specific. Discutirán e intercambiarán reflexiones con el público a cerca de si las artes y las tecnologías creativas pueden aplicarse para tratar retos cívicos, sociales y medioambientales urgentes, con el fin de facilitar que las comunidades imaginen futuros mejores. Paul es investigador y Profesor Titular de Interpretación en la Universidad de Bristol, y director artístico de Uninvited Guests. Jessica Hoffmann is directora artística de Uninvited Guests, formadora de talleres e intérprete. Paul Clarke and Jessica Hoffmann, artistic directors of Bristol-based company Uninvited Guests, bring their productions Billennium and To Those Born Later to the festival. In this talk they will speak about their experience of integrating performance and technology; digital theatre as a way of connecting people socially during COVID lockdowns and times of physical distance, learning from the pandemic about engaging audiences remotely, using interactive technologies to facilitate participation, and combining augmented reality with site-specific performance. With the audience, they will discuss whether arts and creative technologies can be applied to address urgent civic, social and environmental challenges, and to enable communities to imagine better futures. Paul is a researcher and Senior Lecturer in Performance Studies at University of Bristol, and artistic director of Uninvited Guests. Jessica Hoffmann is artistic director of Uninvited Guests, workshop facilitator and performer.
